OBITUARY June Hegler Thomas November 25, 1937 – September 30, 2018 June Thomas, formerly June Hegler, passed away on September 30, 2018. She was surrounded by friends and family as she passed into eternity. Born November 25, 1937, to Sadie Mobley and James Franklin Hegler in Kershaw, South Carolina, June was one of five children.

She grew up in Kershaw and attended the University of South Carolina. In 1962 she married Edward Robert Thomas (Ed) and together they had two children, Edward Robert (Bob) and William James (Bill). They were married 56 years, spending their retirement living on Lake Murray in Irmo, South Carolina.

June was able to witness the birth of her two grandchildren, William Edward and Jonathan Ford. June was loved by many and known for her kindness and care. She was active in charity work and involved in serving her church, Salem United Methodist.

She was a wonderful cook who willingly offered a meal to anyone in need. June was preceded in death by her mother, Sadie; father, James; sister, Jackie; and brother, Jimmy. She is survived by her husband Ed; children, Bob (Amy) and Bill (Kirsten); grandchildren, William and Jonathan; and sister, Dorothy Hellen (Coke).

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 6th, at 12:00 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Salem United Methodist Church, Palmetto Place, or Emory and Henry College in her honor.
