Obituary for Kathleen M. Coleman Kathleen “Kathy” M. Coleman, age 55, of Pilesgrove, NJ passed on April 14, 2018 peacefully in her home. Kathy was born in Delaware on January 30, 1963 to William C. Coleman and Marie W. Hogan and is survived by her parents and other loved ones including Noel J. Coleman, Antonia M. Rodriguez and family, and Jessica L. Friel. Kathy moved to the Woodstown area and attended K-12 at the Woodstown-Pilesgrove School District.

She played varsity tennis and basketball in high school and graduated at the top of her class. She received her B.S. from Virginia Tech in 1984. In 1986 Kathy moved to Southern California where she entered law school at the University of San Diego in 1987.

She got her J.D. in 1990 and began her career as an intellectual property attorney in the Southern California area. Kathy started doing a lot of volunteer work and served on the board of directors of the San Diego chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. In 1994 Kathy moved back to the East coast to work at Temple Law School under a teaching fellowship.

Kathy loved teaching but found herself following a new path working as an IP attorney at the US EPA in 1996. Kathy worked there for 18 years until she retired in 2014. While working at the EPA Kathy became a mediator for Arlington County in VA, Court Appointed Special Advocate for children, and a licensed foster care parent in VA and NJ.

In 2005 Kathy built a home in Pilesgrove and continued to help children from troubled situations. Kathy fostered four different teenage females over the years. She also loved to cook and sew and empowered young women with various skills while teaching.
