Kathryn R Jakie Riddle, November 06, 1921 — January 24, 2019

Kathryn R. “Jakie” Riddle died January 24, 2019, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was born to Rufus A. and Floy Ramsey in Osceola, Arkansas November 6, 1921. She lived most of her life in Cape Girardeau.

She spent part of her life in Arkansas, Texas, Nebraska, and Mississippi. She married John W. Jones of Van Wert, Iowa, January, 4, 1942. They divorced in 1967 and he died in December, 1998.

She married Arnold Riddle of Warrensburg, Missouri, August 25, 1973. He preceded her in death May 28, 1994. She was also preceded in death by granddaughter Jennifer Miles November 30, 2016.

In Cape Girardeau she worked at Lambert’s Fabrics. When living in Grand Island, NE she worked for a florist. She worked along side her first husband in the jewelry store they owned when living in McCook, NE.

She was an avid golfer. She began playing when her son took up the game while he was in Junior High School. She became proficient enough to win tournaments in southwest Nebraska and northwest Kansas.

It was her love of the game that led her husband Arnold to start playing. When they retired and moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast it was Arnold’s turn. He won The Grand Masters of Mississippi 3 times.

How did she become known as “Jakie”? When she was a child the family went to a circus. There was a clown there whose name was Jake.

When they returned home Kathryn began to mimic what she had seen Jake the clown do. Her father began calling her “Jake” and it became “Jakie”. She is survived by her son John M, (Paula) Jones of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Granddaughter, Kelly A. (Derek) Case, and great-grandchildren Emily and Evan Case all of St. Louis, Missouri. In lieu of flowers her family request memorials to Christ Episcopal Church in Cape Girardeau. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
