Obituary for Kenny Hiles Kenneth “Kenny” Edward Hiles, born May 16, 1952, to Margie Dean Hiles and the late Paul Edward Hiles, all of Frankfort, passed away Saturday, June 16, at the UK Healthcare Markey Cancer Center in Lexington, following a courageous battle against cancer. Services will be held at Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Todd Lester officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. In addition to being a devoted member of Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church, and a retiree of Buffalo Trace Distillery after 45 years, Kenny was a selfless man who treasured time with family and friends, and loved horse racing, UK basketball, golf, weekend mornings in front of the Nintendo, grilling and spending time with his granddaughter.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 46 years, Phyllis Kathryn Hampton Hiles, also of Frankfort, who he met in high school; his two proud and honored sons, Brian Hiles (Stacey) and Greg Hiles; his beautiful granddaughter Addison Hiles; his brother Ricky Hiles (Gina); and sisters Marsha Rucker and Paula Groves (Richard); and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends he adored. In addition to his father, Kenny was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Mark and Scotty Hiles, and brother-in-law Steven Rucker. Serving as pallbearers are nephews Chris and Gary Groves and Jeff Hiles; and Matt Granderson, Gabe Gottler and Paul Richardson.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are brother-in-law Richard Groves; and Donnie Cloud, Tommy Hughes, Monty Owens, Bennie Thurman, Marty Young and Olen Hurt. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of contributions to the Markey Cancer Center, 800 Rose Street, Lexington, KY 40536, as Kenny’s family would like to thank the exemplary and compassionate staff there for the care they provided to Kenny and his family during a difficult time, or to the Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church family for the same support they have provided. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrods Brothers Funeral Home.
