Kevin B. McGrath March 3, 1945 – April 22, 2018 The family of Kevin B. McGrath, 73, La Porte, Indiana is saddened to announce his passing after a long battle of heart and lung disease. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, April 27, 2018 at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 606 S. Woodland Ave. , Michigan City, Indiana with Selvaraj Selladurai officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm, Thursday in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana and Friday from 9:15 am till 10:00am in the Queen of all Saints Catholic Church Legacy Center. He was born March 3, 1945 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late G. Evart and Aileen (Doherty) McGrath. Kevin is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann McGrath of La Porte, Indiana, son, Jayson (Amy) McGrath of Indianapolis, Indiana.

grandson, Wyatt McGrath of Indianapolis, Indiana, sister, Patricia Aileen McGrath of Michigan City, Indiana. niece, Robyn (Joe) Martin of Bothell, Washington; Two nephews, Michael McGrath of Phoenix, Arizona and Mark McGrath of Farmington, New Mexico; Two great-nephews, Jack and Drew Martin of Bothell, Washington; He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Michael McGrath. Kevin grew up in Michigan City and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1963.

He served as a Specialist Five (E-5) in the US Army from June 1969 through June 1971. After the Army, he graduated from law school in Bloomington, Indiana, and shortly after he worked for Legal Services Program of Northern Indiana in South Bend as a staff attorney. He ended his career there as the Executive Director in 2001.

He returned to Michigan City and opened his law practice specializing in Elder Law. Kevin enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with his family. Over the years he was on the board of several organizations and was currently on the Board of Rural Services.

He was a member of Queen of all Saints Catholic Church, Elks Lodge #432 and recently a member of the Falcons. Kevin was a kind, compassionate and quiet man who took care of his family, friends and clients. He will remain forever in our heart.
