Robert J. (Skokie) Brandon- White 73, of Michigan City, Indiana departed this life on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Franciscan St. Anthony’s Hospital. Home going services will be noon, Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Pentecostal Temple C.O.G.I.C., 2722 Wabash St. Michigan City, Indiana with Pastor Robert Johnson to officiate, and Eulogy will be given by Pastor J.T. Wilkins Jr. Burial will be 10am, Monday, April, 23, 2018 at Greenwood Cemetery. Viewing will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2018 at Rock of Ages International Church 616 Main St. Michigan City, Indiana.

Robert was born November 29, 1944, in Cotton Plant, Arkansas to Bryson and Wilma White. He moved with his family to Michigan City, Indiana in 1952, Robert confessed a hope in Jesus Christ at an early age. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lakeland.

He later moved his membership to Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church. Robert became a Deacon under the leadership of Rev. William C. Eckwood Sr

He attended Elston High School. On January 9, 1970 he married the love of his life Bobbie J. Collins. After 30 years he retired from welding, Robert’s passion was to spread the word of God through singing.

He began singing at the age of 15 in a quartet group. He was the last surviving founding member of the Sensational friendly six Gospel Quartet. His greatest dream was to travel the world singing Gospel songs.

He enjoyed listening to Gospel songs, fishing, watching basketball and the White Sox’s baseball team. Robert loved eating cookies, cakes and pies. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Bobbie J. White, of Michigan City, Indiana; four sisters, Mattie Banks, Carol Washington, Betty White all of Michigan City, Indiana and Anita (Alex)Smith of Little Rock, Arkansas; three brothers, Bryson White Jr., of Portage Wisconsin, Otis White of Detroit, Michigan and Steve White of Michigan City, Indiana; one sister in-law, Beatrice S. Perry of Michigan City, Indiana; three brother in-laws, Carey Simpson Sr. of Michigan City, Indiana, Fredrick Simpson and Marvin (Sabrina) both of Chicago, Illinois; one special sister Pricilla Morris, Michigan City, Indiana and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends He was preceded in death by his parents, Bryson and Wilma White; one brother Samuel White, three sisters, Linda White, Murlo Cotton and Doris Ann White-Ross.
