Obituary of Larry White, Sr. Larry Clinton White, Sr., 69, of Salisbury departed this life on September 1, 2018, when his higher power called him to begin his new life, his soul to rest in peace with no worries or pain and just love throughout eternity. Larry was born on October 13, 1948 to the late Orville White, Sr., and the late Kathleen Rhock White. “Deek” as some called him attended Salisbury High School before graduating from Wicomico Senior High School.
He played football for both schools but his passion was auto mechanics which lead to him to become the mechanic that he was. Not long after graduation Larry enlisted in the United States Air Force. Larry went thru basic training in San Antonio, TX before leaving for Vietnam.
Larry served in that war as an airplane mechanic, stationed at Da Nang Airbase in Vietnam, Andrews Air Force Base and then Dover Air Force Base. During his services Larry received the Purple Heart for bravery for risking his life to save others and a fleet of aircraft by using rags and his dog tags to stop and secure a fuel leak. He also received other medals and certificates from the Air Force.
He took pride in his work and was satisfied when his hands were doing work or he had some say in how it was done. After leaving the Air Force, Larry attended UMES and WorWic. He worked for Shore Up Inc. driving a bus, Perdue Farms as a Lab Technician and held several other jobs.
Larry loved “Mopar”, hot rods building them and racing them, the excitement of racing. Some believed that he had gas lines running thru his veins. A ’72 green Duster was his pride and joy and nothing compared to that, you could have a hemi, holly, or use nitro and Larry would say “Mopar”!
He said that he would never sell his Duster and never did. If you said Larry White to someone they would say back “the Green Duster that’s Larry White” and he was well remembered. After entering his new life, Larry leaves behind a son, Larry White Jr.; his sister, Ida White Jones; six grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 15 nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Donte’ and Jimmy were favorites along with Roc and Andrean, Jr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin White and Orville White, Jr., and a nephew, Darnell White. Larry will be sorely missed and forever in our hearts by all of his friends, family and extended relatives. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 1 pm at Stewart Funeral Home by Holloway and Downey PA.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-8 pm and on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at a later date at Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery. Funeral services are in the care of Stewart Funeral Home by Holloway and Downey, 821 West Road, Salisbury, MD 21801.
