Obituary of Maxine Reid A graveside service will be held Friday, September 7th, 2018 at 11AM at Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery, in Pocomoke City, MD for Maxine Rae Reid, 89. She died surrounded by love on September 3 of congestive heart failure at her residence in Annapolis. Maxine was born on June 28, 1929 in Somerset County and lived most of her life on the Eastern Shore of Maryland having homes over the years in Ocean City, Pocomoke, the Pocomoke Forest and Snow Hill.

Maxine lived in Annapolis for the last three years. She was the daughter of the late Blanche E. McDaniel and Clarence McDaniel of Shelltown, MD. She was preceded in death by her husband Grover C. Reid, who died in 1989, and by sisters, Lois Marie McDaniel, Louise Rash and Doris R. Kendall.

Surviving are her son John William Reid and his wife Sandy, of Asheville, NC; two daughters, Joni R. Foster of Bradenton, FL and Jacqueline R. Ploof and husband Steve, of Annapolis, MD; cherished granddaughters Amber Foster Gonzalez and husband Steve, of San Diego, CA and Cierra Alexis Ploof of Annapolis, MD, a great grandson, Asher Reid Gonzalez of San Diego, CA and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to raising three children, Maxine worked with her husband, Grover, in businesses in Pocomoke, Ocean City and operated a poultry farm in the Pocomoke Forest near Snow Hill. They retired to Snow Hill in 1987.

Maxine loved family get-togethers and enjoyed traveling. After her husband’s death, she continued to stay active, swimming with friends at Salisbury University, lunching with schoolmates from Marion and walking daily around Snow Hill. To the end, she enjoyed being outside and watching birds and other animals that visited her feeders.

Family and friends were blessed with many smiles and much laughter during her 89 years. Contributions in memory of Maxine R. Reid may be given to Hospice of the Chesapeake Foundation in support of the Mandrin Inpatient Care Center, 90 Ritchie Hwy, Pasadena, MD 21122 and Maryland Public Television, 11767 Owings Mills Blvd. , Owings Mills, MD 21117.
