Joan G. Collins, 77 died Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born here, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Hattie (Smack) Short. Her late husband John Collins died several years ago.

Joan was a 1959 graduate of the former Worcester High School. Upon graduation she attended Philadelphia Academy of the Finer Arts. She retired as a cook for Ocean Downs Racetrack in Berlin, MD.

She was a member of St. Paul U.M. Church in Berlin where she served as a member of the United Methodist Women and Happy Club. Her survivors include 3 brothers: Rev. Jewett (Cathy) Short of Middletown, DE, Tyrone (Judy) of Frankford, DE and Cortez (Carolyn) McCray of Philadelphia, PA; 3 godchildren: Anjolene Smack Whaley, Jeanette Parker and Kyron Henry, several nieces and nephews.

Ten siblings preceded them in death. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 27, 2018 at St. Paul UM Church in Berlin where friends may view one hour prior to service. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
