Obituary of Doris “Dot” Kaufman Doris Silver Kaufman (Dot) died peacefully Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at trustbridge Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, Florida. Born on February 22, 1923 in New York City to S. Sidney and Edna Fisher Silver. Dot grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey and later graduated from Asbury Park High School.

A child of the Depression, her greatest regret was not having the opportunity to attend college. Nevertheless, she pursued her education by reading voraciously, participating in Life Long Learning programs, and being a news junkie. Dot met the love of her life, Jerome M. Kaufman (Jerry) on a blind date before he went off to World War ll.

They were married over 45 years before he passed away in 1992. Dot and Jerry spent their married life together in New Jersey, Connecticut, Ocean City, Maryland and Boca Raton, Florida. Dot fiercely loved her family and is survived by her daughter, Nancy Kaufman Benjamin (Andrew) of Salisbury, Robert Kaufman (Debby) of Louisville, Kentucky and Edward Kaufman (Mandi) of Los Angeles, California.

She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Corey Benjamin (Annie) of Richmond, Virginia, Gwen Benjamin of Santa Cruz, California, Ross Kaufman (Carrie) of Denver, Colorado, Stephanie Kaufman of San Francisco, California, Scott Kaufman of Chicago, Illinois, Jason Kaufman of Stamford, Connecticut, and Zachary Kaufman of Clemson University. “Grammy Dot” also is survived by great -grandchildren Caroline and Michael Benjamin and Emma Kaufman. There are several nieces and nephews and a devoted sister-in-law Sue Kaufman of Boca Raton.

Services will be conducted by Rabbi Susan Warshaw Sunday, October 14, 2018 at 12:00 at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery. Family will recieve friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Temple Bat Yam, Berlin, Maryland, Women Supporting Women, Salisbury, Maryland and trustbridge Hospice by the Sea, Boca Raton, Florida.
