Obituary of Edwin Selby Edwin “Ed” Harrison Selby, 88, of Pocomoke City, died peacefully on Sunday, October 21, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born on December 10, 1929 in Greenbackville, VA, he was the son of the late John A. and Regina Ellis Selby. Following graduation from Snow Hill High School he served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years before starting his automotive career with the former Duncan Bros.

He later joined Midway, retiring as the service manager. Ed was an expert on all G.M. products and following his retirement, he opened his own antique car restoration shop, posting “The Best Damned Mechanic on the Eastern Shore” on his business cards and leaving a message on his answering machine, “I’m busy right now making new ones out of old ones”. Ed also had a great love for model trains and traveling to antique car shows all across the country, developing lifelong friends.

He was a dedicated member at Pocomoke Elks for the past 37 years. He enjoyed going there for dinner, drinks, and socializing. He also spent many weekends with his great grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

Ed is survived by his daughter, Cindy Ree Selby Donaway (Jimmy Cash), of Pocomoke City, one grandson, Duane E. Donaway (Johanna) of Stockton; one granddaughter, Shayna Ree Hart (Jason) of Pocomoke City; five great grandchildren, Leia and Luke Donaway; Zoey, Logan and Lexi Hart; two brother-in-laws, Gene Mason (Sharlene) and Reggie Mason (Debbie) and many extended family members including nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded by his devoted wife of 60 years, Betty Anne Mason Selby and one great grandson, Ian K. Sterling. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 12:00 pm, officiated by the Rev.

Dr. Sally Dolch at the Holloway Funeral Home in Pocomoke. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Pocomoke City, MD.
