Obituary of Edna Mahaffey Edna Springston Mahaffey, 104, formerly of Pocomoke City, died peacefully on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at her Leesburg, VA home. Born November 15, 1913 in Stumptown, WV, she a daughter of the late John J. and Mellie Shock Springston. She was the third of four daughters born to her parents.

Following high school graduation, she earned an associate’s degree from Glenville College. Edna was a longtime active member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Pocomoke City, teaching Sunday School, a long time member of the choir, and serving on several governing committees, including the Administrative Council. She was a member of the Eastern Star, and served in all the offices, including several terms as the Worthy Matron.

She was a member of the Pocomoke Garden Club and enjoyed gardening around her house. Many people in Pocomoke knew her from her work in Bata Shoe Store and Montgomery Ward Catalog Store. She is survived by her son, David Paul Mahaffey of Purcellville, VA; two grandchildren, David John Mahaffey and his wife Michelle and Elizabeth Mahaffey See and her husband Steve; and five great grandchildren, Jonathan Paul Mahaffey, Bryan See, Paul V. Mahaffey, Madeline Mahaffey and Megan See.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul T. Mahaffey; her daughter, Linda Spear and her three sisters, Evelyn Taggart, Frances Springston and Adah McClain. There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 7 – 9PM at the Holloway Funeral Home on Vine Street in Pocomoke City. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11:00 am at Bethany United Methodist Church, Market Street, Pocomoke City where family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service.

Rev. Brian Albert and Rev. Dr. Sally Dolch will officiate.

Interment will be in Bethany UM Cemetery on Third Street in Pocomoke City, MD. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, P.A., 107 Vine Street, Pocomoke City, MD 21851. To send condolences to the family, please visit www.
