Obituary of Richard Smith, Sr. Richard “Dick” Smith, Sr., 82, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife at his side on Friday, September 7, 2018. Born in Salisbury on January 3, 1936, he was the son of the late Russell and Evelyn Smith. “Dick” was a 1954 graduate of Wicomico High School.

He established and operated Salisbury Auto Trim Shop for 45 years and was also a poultry farmer. He attended Calvary Baptist Tabernacle until he no longer could due to his illness. Earlier in life he enjoyed racing his car, “Block Buster” at US 13 Dragway and other tracks, NASCAR racing, hunting, fishing and boating.

He also enjoyed his old cars and going to events with family and friends, especially the world’s biggest 50’s party ( family oriented ) in New Jersey over Labor Day weekend. He most enjoyed home, family and many friends. He loved people and never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Shirley Smith; a son, Richard “Dicky” Smith, Jr. (Nancy); a daughter, Cindy Kleger (Mike); 2 step-children whom he loved as his own, Carl “Greg” Harrison (Billye), and Kim Harrison-Cook (Phillip); 4 grandchildren, Chana, Wyatt, Brittany, and Allison; a sister, Beverly Pope (Vaughn); a sister-in-law, Jean Smith; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Russell Smith, Jr. A Celebration Service for a life well lived will be held on Thursday, 2:00 pm, September 13, 2018 at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury with Rev. Lou Bradley and Rev.

Oren Perdue officiating. There will be visitations on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and also on Thursday one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Calvary Baptist Tabernacle, 337 Tilghman Road, Salisbury, MD 21804 and or Salisbury Baptist Temple, 6413 Hobbs Road, Salisbury, MD 21804.
