Laura Arlene (Mayberry) Ward October 09, 1927 – January 07, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Laura Arlene Ward (Mayberry), age 91 of Dayton Ohio, passed away peacefully Monday January 7th, 2019 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born October 9, 1927 in Dayton, OH, to the late Norman and Emma Mayberry of Dodson Branch, TN. She is survived by a daughter Glenda McManus and son Michael Ward (Tina); two grandchildren, Heather McManus and Austin Ward (Joie); two great grandchildren Nixyn and Bronx; a former son-in-law James McManus; sisters Imogene Dillon, Barbara Method, Norma Eder, Judy (Bobby) Lee, Dorothy (Mike) Knight of Cookeville TN and Wanda Stamm of Dayton OH; two sister-in-laws Brenda Mayberry of Cookeville TN and Kim Mayberry of Greenfield, IN.

In addition to her loving parents she is preceded in death by her husband Thurston Ward; siblings Mary Kemplin, Gerald Mayberry, Dolphus Mayberry, Harold Mayberry, Garry Mayberry, and Douglas Mayberry; two sister-in-laws Stella Mayberry and Vada Mayberry; and five brother-in-laws George Method, Jack Kemplin, Ronnie Eder, Junior Dillon, and Merrill Stamm. During her lifetime, she lived in both Dayton, Oh and Dodson Branch, Tn. While in Dayton, she worked at Borden Ice Cream earlier in her life and later retired from Elder Beerman.

She was a member of Dodson Branch Freewill Baptist Church and regularly attended services at Dayton Freewill Baptist Church in Dayton, Oh. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Wednesday January 9th at Newcomer Beavercreek Chapel (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd Beavercreek, OH 45432).

There will also be a visitation at Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville Tennessee on Friday January 11th from 4-9 and Saturday 10-11 with services to follow and burial to be at Dodson Branch Cemetery. Pallbearers will be friends and family. The family would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to the Hospice of Dayton for their level of care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Dayton or Dodson Branch Cemetery Fund.
