Our dear, sweet Mother peacefully joined her loved ones in heaven in the early morning of January 29, 2019. Laura was born December 26, 1938 in Storm Lake, Iowa to Earl Joseph an Elizabeth ‘Bessie’ Jeanette Lindquist. She grew up on the family farm, alongside her two brothers and two sisters.

Laura married her high school sweetheart, James Lee Carpenter on Dec. 18, 1956 in Storm Lake. They were married 53 years, and together raised three daughters and one son.

Laura enjoyed the friendships made while working at the IRS. She and Jim owned the Candy Campus Daycare and later operated their own trucking company. Laura enjoyed crochet, knitting, puzzles, the Utah Jazz, and going to Wendover with family.

Laura loved her family and they loved her right back. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Laura is survived by her daughters, Julie and Kelly Rose; Joni and Brad Bubak; and Jan and Jeff Gretzner.

She also leaves behind her mother-in-law, Evelyn F. Carpenter; her sister, Marilyn Banta; eight grandchildren; Amanda, Jeffrey, Shelly, Wyatt, Sharvel, Kyle, Shayne, and Dyln; twelve great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews. Laura was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Jean Rohlk; her brothers, Robert and John Lindquist; her husband; and her son Chet James. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Benjamin LaRose, Charity, and the medical staff at McKay Dee Hospital for their excellent care.

We’d also like to thank Mom’s family, friends, and neighbors for their expressed thoughts and prayers which gave her great comfort. Graveside services will be held Friday, February 8, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, or a charity of your choice.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
