Laurance Anthony (Larry) Coslow Jr. of Florence Alabama, formerly of Park Ridge New Jersey, passed away at North Alabama Medical Center on Wednesday, December 27, 2018 after a brief illness. Visitation will be Friday, January 4, 2019 from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be in the chapel with Bro.

William T. Brewer officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenview Memorial Park Love Mausoleum. Mr. Coslow is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence A. Coslow of Finley Oklahoma, Thelma E. Coslow of Ramsey New Jersey, and brother, Timothy John Coslow of Eugene Oregon.

Grandparents, Sam Coslow, Dorothy Addison Coslow of New York, NY and John and Phyllis MacDonald of Naples, Florida. He is survived by his wife Deborah J. Coslow of Florence, children, Andrew Coslow of Hoboken, New Jersey, Jennifer Coslow of Deerfield Beach, Florida, Selena Suggs (Scott) of Tuscumbia, Alabama, Ashley Austin (Pace Harrison) of Silverhill, Alabama and Amber Austin of Indianapolis, Indiana. Brother, Mark Coslow (Mary) of Washington Township, New Jersey, sister, Judy Hammond (Duke) of Loveland, Colorado.

Grandchildren, Ashton Gean, Carter and Carson Suggs. Several nieces and nephews. He has been in the Water Utility Industry for the past 45 years.

He was a Licensed Water and Wastewater Operator, Consultant, Instructor and Author. He was also a Certified Public Manager and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck NJ and was also certified by SUNY College of New York to teach Utility Management. He held multiple licenses in the water and wastewater field.

He was currently employed by Constellium in Muscle Shoals, Alabama as an Environmental Operator, in the Water Department. Larry retired after 33 years as General Supervisor, Consultant and backup Operator for the Borough of Park Ridge, New Jersey Water & Sewer Departments. Assistant Project Manager for 5 years at Camden Water, Camden NJ Water, Wastewater and Storm Water Divisions.

Operator/Consultant for AGRA Environmental Services, LLC, Dover, NJ at Ridgewood Water in Ridgewood, NJ and Sus Water at Sus, NJ. Assistant Project Manager at City of Casselberry Florida where he helped to implement one of the nations largest Pipe Bursting and Replacement projects. Project Manager for Woodard and Curran at Maple Shade Utilities in Maple Shade, NJ.

Over the years his contributions to the Utility Industry has earned him multiple awards in the Water and Wastewater industry and related environmental fields. Awarded the 1999 Service Industry Award for training and contributions to the industry by the North Jersey Water Association. He was awarded the 2001 NJDEP Architect Design Award for designing and building Water Treatment Facilities in Park Ridge New Jersey.

2005 Operator of the Year Award for Operational Efficiency by the New Jersey Water Association. New Jersey Tree Foundation, in partnership with American Forest, Honored for planting over 4,000 trees in Camden, NJ. These trees benefit by producing clean oxygen, filter water, reduces storm water run off, reduces crime rates, and reduces air temperatures in cities.

Board Member and Trustee of Camden Shipyard and Maritime Museum, Camden NJ, from 2006-2014. Served as Board Member and past Vice President of the New Jersey Water Association, where he served 10 plus years. Past Board Member of the Florence Beautification Board, Florence AL.

Scout Master of the Boy Scouts of America, earned Eagle Scout and was a member of the Order of the Arrow (Vigil Honors). His latest accomplishments include becoming a published author on Amazon Books, and debuted on the #1 best sellers list in the utility market. He has also produced a Podcast on iTunes, and was a regular blogger on Linkedin.

He was a regular column writer for the Wall Street Rumor’s E-zine Newsletter. His articles were also published by the Philadelphia Inquirer, Courier Journal Post in Cherry Hill, NJ and The Bergen Record in Bergen County NJ. He taught many workshops and training classes, his goal has always been to help others succeed within the Water & Wastewater Industries.

He loved to share his lifetime of knowledge and experiences through writing and storytelling. He was an avid reader and researcher and liked all things to do with Science and Space Innovations, Pre-historic history and ancestry. He loved Calvin and Hobbes Books, and any kind science fiction and modern culture book.

He loved being outdoors, taking long walks in the woods, bookstores, museums, art galleries, watching Disney movies, magicians, hummingbirds and Dogs. He loved TED Talks, Blues Music, drawing and painting. His favorite TV show was “The Voice” and he loved his cup of hot tea.

Larry had a great passion for the Water Industry. He most of all loved to play with his grandchildren. He was of the Lutheran Faith.

Pallbearers will be family and friends. A memorial Service will be held for Friends and Family in Park Ridge, New Jersey at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross.
