Obituary for Leon Johnson Leon (Buddy) Johnson was born January 17, 1929 to Lonnie and Iva Johnson in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Leon was the oldest son of 9 children. Buddy passed away April 8, 2018 in the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.
He met the love of his life Marita Milner while working in the Milner Bakery and later became the Milner’s son-in-law. Buddy and Marita were married on Dec. 23, 1950 and celebrated 67 years together last December.
Of this union they were blessed with 5 children, 9 grandchildren and soon to be 14 great-grandchildren. Buddy was a Korean War Veteran and served from 1950 to 1952. After returning from Korea he returned to the Bakery until it closed.
He worked for Meadow Gold and Gilt Edge until he and Marita started their own business and have owned and operated Johnson’s Springcrest Drapery in Pauls Valley, Ada, Ardmore and Norman. Buddy was a member of First Baptist Church of Pauls Valley. Buddy loved life to the fullest and cherished his family.
He and Marita made many trips to Disney World until they took every grandchild. Buddy is survived by his wife and soulmate, Marita Johnson. 1 brother Frank Johnson and wife Margaret of Pauls Valley, children Terry Johnson and wife Barbara of Pauls Valley, Danny Johnson of Pauls Valley, Anita Cottrell and husband David of Pauls Valley, Eric Johnson and wife Shirley of Saskatchewan, Canada Lea Ann Stevenson and husband John of Pickett, Ok.
Grandchildren Jill Young and husband David of Broken Arrow, Jeremy Cottrell and wife Kimberly of Nashville, Tn, Christy Dabbs and husband A.J. from Harrah, Ok, April Cartwright and husband Jered from Ada, Okla. Alecia Riddle, Pauls Valley, BJ Johnson Saskatchewan, Canada. Chris Johnson, Pauls Valley.
Dusty Willis and wife Kristi of Houston, Tx and Jamie Gray and husband Jason of Wilmer, Alabama. Great Grandchildren Lexi Johnson, Jon Eric Johnson, Emilie and Zackary Young, Jacob and Aja Riddle, Joshua Cottrell, Ethan and Loren Cartwright, Dewayne, Megan and Austin Chestang, Henley Willis. Preceded in death by his parents Lonnie and Iva Johnson, brother Lank Johnson, brother Stanley Johnson, sisters Lola Mae Clarkston, Minnie Lee Brown, Imogene Stevens, Betty Ray.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the Wooster Funeral Home Chapel with John Stevenson officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
