Mr. Leslie Melton “Les” Baxter, age 79 of Franklin, KY, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 at the Kindred Hospital in Louisville, KY. Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home where services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 9, 2019 with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY. Les was born February 10, 1940 Madison Co., TN to the late J.C. Baxter and the late Ruby Elizabeth Pirtle Baxter.

He was preceded in death by 1st wife Martha Baxter and 2 sisters Evie Harris and Mary Moore. He is survived by his wife Mary Crick Baxter, 2 sons – Ardie Baxter (Kelly) of Franklin, KY and Jeremy Baxter (Cathy) of Franklin, KY, 2 step-children Mike Pannell (Judy) of Commerce City, CO, Michelle Frakes (Kyle) of Louisville, KY, grandchildren Sara Baxter, Katie Baxter, Bailey Baxter, Chaz Pannell, Evelyn Pannell, Megan Pannell, Brandon Cosman, Ashley Cosman, Samantha Downey, brothers James Baxter of Union City, TN and Robert Baxter of Portland, TN, sister Sue Gillion of Winfield, AL. Les was a retired Church of Christ minister where he last ministered at Kingville Church of Christ in Lamar Co., Alabama.

He was a member of the Orlinda Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 8, 2019 and from 6:00 AM until service time Thursday at Gilbert Funeral Home.
