Leslie Chase Boswell June 16, 1923 – December 9, 2018 Our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather Leslie Chase Boswell passed away on December 9, 2018. Leslie was the third of eight children. He was born in Mount Emmons, Utah, on June 16, 1923, to Volney and Esther Chase Boswell.
Leslie attended Altamont High School where he starred on the basketball team, setting records and grew to love the game for the rest of his life. During Leslie’s senior year in high school he went on a date with Nina Beebe, a girl from band practice. They dated all through high school, and a week after graduation they were married in Altonah on May 26, 1942.
A year after their marriage, their vows were solemnized in the Manti Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were married for more than 74 years. Soon after marriage he built a 12’x18’ house for Nina in Altonah, and then left to serve in WWII.
He joined the Army in 1942 and was trained in wire and phone communications and stationed in the Pacific. He didn’t see his first son Dale Boswell until Dale was 2 years old. Upon returning from the war, Les and Nina moved to Ogden where their second son, Craig was born.
Leslie worked in the auto body industry and became an auto body instructor at Weber State College. He and his wife, their son Craig and daughter-in-law Becky, started Development Day Care and The Chalkboard. At one time, they were running 21 daycare centers and four Chalkboard stores.
Leslie was known for his quickness and sarcasm. He always had others laughing with his subtle, but witty comments and was always enjoyable to be around. His hobbies included making glass artwork, watching Jazz basketball games, and working on cars.
He loved traveling with his wife, wintering in St. George, camping, boating, and helping the grandkids with various home or business projects. Leslie truly loved and supported each grandchild and great-grandchild. He is survived by his son, Craig Boswell, sisters Bernice Swasey, Anne Clark and Faye Jean Milburn, 9 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death is his wife, Nina Boswell; his parents; his son, Dale; and his sisters, Alta Cook, Fern Snow, Arlene Clark and brother Elvin Ray Boswell. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018, at the Liberty Ward church building, 4279 North 3300 East, Liberty.
