In the early morning hours on December 4, 2018 the sweetest, strongest, most beautiful woman in the world went to heaven to be with her mother and son. Patricia Elizabeth Lucero Oliver our mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, and aunt, was born in Leadville, Colorado on December 18, 1943, daughter of Bernice Martinez Palacios. She was raised in Ogden, Utah and had also lived in Roy and Clinton.

She married Joseph P. Reyna and they had two handsome sons, Joseph Anthony (Tony) Reyna and Peter Paul Oliver (Reyna). They later divorced. On July 15, 1967, she married Rick Oliver and added two beautiful daughters to their family, Michelle Bobbie Oliver and Tammy LeAnn Oliver.

Her and Rick were married for 20 years. Patricia was an extremely courageous lady and worked very hard for all her successes in life. Not only did she raise a great family, she obtained a Master’s Degree from Westminster College.

She continued to be a role model to her family, but also a strong pillar within the Hispanic community. She was fluent in both Spanish and English and held many professional positions throughout her career. Her passion was helping minorities in the community, as she was involved in SOCIO and Central Civico.

Patricia was also a member of The National Coalition of La Raza (NCLR) and worked alongside both Caesar Chavez and Senator Robert F. Kennedy. She received the Caesar Chavez award as well. Patricia also served on the Board of Regents, the Institutional Council, and many others at Weber State University, where her name is proudly displayed on many plaques throughout the campus.

She was also appointed by Utah State Governor Rampton to serve on the State Community Council Board. Patricia was a part of various organizations involved with youth leadership, community, and federal programs. Patricia retired from Utah Job Service as Federal Program Management.

Not only was she very pretty, our mom and grandma was definitely the life of the party. She loved Mexican music and going out dancing. She was an avid hunter, camper and loved to fish.

The best part about the weekend was waking up to mom cooking fresh tortillas and chili verde for breakfast. Our mom grew up with love for cooking. She very much enjoyed working in the family Mexican restaurant, Reyna’s Café, with her mother in her younger years.

Patricia is a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and proudly raised her kids in the Catholic Church as well. Patricia is survived by two sons and two daughters, favorite child Anthony (Tony) Reyna (Dede), Mark Trujillo (Stephanie), Michelle Oliver (Darroll) and Tammy Oliver. 10 favorite grand-children – Angie, Chris, Tiffany, Matthew, Miles, Nicholas, Kyrie, Taneal, Enzo and Talia and 11 favorite great grand-children -Braelee, Brylenn, Bridger, Brenyk, Brezlyn, Berlinn, Camden, Harvey, Ryker, Aybrie, Jagger, and another great grandchild on the way.
