Obituary for Lester Allen Shelton CHATHAM, Lester Allen Shelton, age 67, of 9737 Callands Rd. Chatham, VA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 27, 2018 at his residence in Chatham. He was born on April 30, 1950, in Greenville, SC, the son of the late Washington Lee Shelton and the late Sallie Brandon Shelton.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ginger Edwards Shelton. He was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam. He worked for the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Department and later Associated Coin Ops and Pittsylvania County Schools before returning to the Sheriff’s Department as a Special Investigator for the last 20 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, John Allen (Wendy) Shelton and Brandon Aaron Shelton; two grandchildren, Chase Thomas Shelton and Seth Andrew Shelton; a sister, Winona Roach; and two nephews, Chris Poteat and Vincent Shelton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Lee Shelton. Funeral services will be conducted at Hollywood Baptist Church on Sunday April 29, 2018 at 3:00 pm with Pastor Terry C. St. John and Minister Tim Hayes officiating.
Burial will follow at Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at other times will be at the residence, 9737 Callands Rd. Chatham, VA.
