He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Jimette Martinez and Leslie Garcia and brother Kenneth Gilbert. He is survived by his wife Laureen (Roberts) Gilbert, daughters; Heather Luv Johnson and Mechelle Amber Gilbert, his sister Tina (Carlette Sue) Gilbert Jones, brother John L. Johnson and his grandchildren; Ammon Johnson, Venida Johnson, Zerin Johnson, Jeddidiah Johnson and Dagen Johnson.

His family and friends will remember him most for the testimony of Jesus Christ that he was always willing to share. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 10:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 4588 North Eagle Mountain Blvd, Eagle Mountain, Utah 84005.
