LIZZIE POWELL August 25, 1925 – March 11, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie O’Neal Powell, 93, of Clayton, LA will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 11:00am from St. Mary Baptist Church on Lake St. John, Ferriday, LA. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Powell, daughter of Phillip and Savannah Washington O’Neal was born in Natchez, MS and died at her residence. She was a longtime member of St. Mary Baptist Church a retired beautician. She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Powell; four sons, Abdul Sabir and his wife, Wajeedah; Arthur Powell and his wife, Martha all of Clayton; Ullman Powell of Ferriday; Jessie Hawkins of Antioch, CA; two sisters, Willie O’Neal and Mildred Davis both of Ferriday; twenty five grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren, thirty five great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild.

And a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ledger Powell, Jr., two sons, Ledger Powell, III and Kareeme Sabir; three daughters, Johnny Powell, Gloria Powell and Juanita Powell. Also six sisters, Pearl Scott, Janie McClain, Mildred Wilson, Barbara Kornbacker, Jessie Sims and Geneva Hall.

“As beautiful as a rose to see, Was her life she lived, So gracefully She made things precious to her touch Her selfless love lives on in each of us. The petals of her life fell one by one. Each a gift of her heart, Yet radiance blooms once again In fields of Glory with no end”.
