Obituary for Lois Jean Johnson Lois Johnson, age 80, of Rochester, died peacefully Saturday, July 7, 2018 at her home. Lois Jean Steffenson was born July 22, 1937 in New Ulm, MN to Harry and Hilda (Larson) Steffenson. She was raised in, and graduated from High School in Franklin, MN.
Lois then graduated from Luther College in Decorah, IA with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. She taught elementary school in Albert Lea, MN, before marrying Keith L. Johnson on June 18, 1961, in Franklin. Keith was a lifelong pharmacist who died March 5, 2000.
The couple moved to Rochester where Lois taught in Rochester Elementary Schools. In 1965, the couple moved to Hayfield, MN where Lois taught in elementary schools for the Hayfield School District. The couple moved back to Rochester in 1994 and retired in 1995.
Lois was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and it’s Women’s Circles, the Rochester Area Lois Club, and the Southeastern Minnesota Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, and walking her dog Trixie. Survivors include her daughter Holly (Scott Hamm) Wermager of Chanhassen, MN; her son Lee Johnson of Rochester; her granddaughters Anna Wermager and Bree Johnson, her grandsons Josh Wermager and Isaac Johnson; her niece Nora Schaefer; her nephew Dave Johnson; her daughter-in-law Camille Johnson, and her dog Trixie.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Kirk. The funeral service for Lois will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 12th. , at Mahn Family Funeral Home – Rochester Chapel, with Rev.
