Obituary for Robert J Quimby Robert Quimby age 94, of Kenyon, passed away peacefully at Zumbrota Health Services on Saturday, September 15, 2018. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church in West Concord with Reverend Joyce Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery in Concord Township.

Robert John Quimby was born on June 29, 1924 in Cherry Grove Township, the son of John and Lucille (Comstock) Quimby. He was raised on the family farm and lived there until entering Zumbrota Health Services in October 2016. Robert attended country school and then attended and graduated from Wanamingo High School.

While living on the family century farm, he raised Ayrshire Cattle, as well as turkeys, chickens, sheep, and beef cows. He was secretary and treasurer for the State Ayrshire Association, served on the Cherry Grove Township Board, treasurer for the Farmers Union Local and was on the finance board at United Methodist Church in West Concord. Robert enjoyed reading, politics, gardening, growing flowers, and visits from everyone.

Robert is survived by nephews, Jim (Dawn) Quimby of Edina, Roger (Lisa) Overby of Kenyon; niece, Diane (Charles) Roper of Ann Arber, MI, several great nieces and nephews; special family, Gene (Tracy) Bang of Kenyon, Adam (Sarah) Bang of Zumbrota, Aric Bang of Kenyon, and Alysha Bang of Kenyon. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Howard Quimby; sister-in-law, Marilynn Quimby; sister Patricia Overby; brother-in-law, Jim Overby. Memorials are preferred to the church, Zumbrota Health Services or donor’s choice.
