Obituary for Mariel Ketel Mariel Matilda Ketel, 97, of Red Wing, died Saturday, September 22, 2018, at St. Crispin Living Community. She was born August 30, 1921, in Maiden Rock to Bernard and Nellie (Todd) Bengtson. She graduated from Maiden Rock High School.

On September 1, 1951, she was united in marriage to Vernon Ketel. They lived in Red Wing where she worked seven years at LaGrange Shoe Company and then for 21 years at the Red Wing Shoe Company. Vernon died on March 4, 1999.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54 Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, reading, traveling, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles and was an avid Twins fan. She is survived by two children, Howard (Tina) Ketel of Comstock, Wis.

, and Cindy (Curt Matthees) Odman of Red Wing; one daughter-in-law, Marsha Ketel of Red Wing; three grandchildren, Tony Swanson, Tera (Jeff) Mathews and Jordan (Elizabeth) Ketel; two great grandchildren, Grace and George Ketel and one sister, Joyce Geister of Ellsworth along with nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Randy; one son-in-law, Dave Odman and two siblings, Thomas Bengtson and Margaret Sundberg. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Dana Jackson officiating.
