Obituary for Bruce Clayton Nehring Bruce Clayton Nehring, 70, of Hager City, Wisconsin, died Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus in Rochester. Bruce was born November 22, 1947 in Red Wing, to Robert “Red” and Eileen (Tebbe) Nehring. He grew up and attended school in Red Wing, graduating from Red Wing Central High School in 1965.

After high school he started his training as a sprinkler fitter. After working as an apprentice and journeyman he became a master sprinkler fitter and worked all over the country, enjoying a career that spanned more than 40 years before retiring in 2010. He was a jack of all trades, a friend and helper to everyone, whether he was fixing someone’s car or filling in by picking up a shift at the bar.

He was twice married prior to meeting Pat Kernan, the love of his life and partner for the last 20 years. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching and cooking. He was also a history buff who enjoyed studying the significant wars and battles of the past.

He is survived by his partner, Patricia Kernan of Hager City; son, John (Connie) Nehring of Plano, Texas; granddaughters, Sarah and Cora; brother, Wayne (Mary) Nehring of Hastings; Pat’s children, Anne (Shawn) Grunzke of Fairfax Station, Virginia, Michael (Kelly) Kernan of Maple Grove, Minn. and Colleen (Sherri) Kernan of Missoula, Mont. and Pat’s grandchildren, Jenna, Tyler, Chris and Jack.

He is preceded in death by his son, Charles Nehring; first wife, Cindy Aymond and second wife, Cyndi Engle. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2018 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Lynne Rigg officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
