Obituary for Lora G. Edens Lora G. Edens, age 94, of Rogersville, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Lora was born on August 14, 1924. He was the son of the late James (Matt) and Myrtle Edens.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Ina Marie Price Edens; brothers, Woodrow, Paul, and Herb Edens; and sister, Eunice Edens Salyer. He is survived by his son, Roger Edens and wife Julie of Powell, TN; daughter, Kristi Edens Cardenas of Surgoinsville, TN; and four grandchildren, Matthew, Russell, and Benjamin Edens, and Lora Marie Cardenas. Lora was a proud member of the 4th Marine Division serving in active combat on Iwo Jima during WWII.

He returned to East Tennessee where he share cropped with the Morgan family, worked for the postal service, farmed, and was an active member of East Rogersville Baptist Church. He served in various ministries but especially enjoyed teaching Sunday School and being a Deacon. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at East Rogersville Baptist Church.

The funeral will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Scott Price officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Friday at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens with military funeral honors being rendered by the United States Marine Corps and the Hawkins County Color Guard.
