Obituary of Loucille Swaim On July 1, 2018, Loucille Wilds Johns Swaim departed her earthly home just 2 days shy of her 93rd birthday. Loucille was born July 3, 1925 in West Palm Beach, Florida where she grew up. She graduated from Palm Beach High in 1943.

She graduated from Rex School of Nursing in 1947. Loucille continued in service as a United States Cadet nurse for the following 3 years. She then moved to Asheboro, NC where she worked as a registered nurse at Randolph Hospital in Obstetrics for all of her adult life.

She met Paul Robert “Bob” Swaim and they married in 1948. Loucille and Bob Swaim raised their 4 children in Asheboro and enjoyed many lifelong friends. They attended First United Methodist Church all their married life and Loucille for many more years.

Loucille lived at Clapp’s Mountain Top Apartments for the past 13 years where she was well cared for, especially by Susan Strayhorn, Patsy Newsome, Maria Zambrano and Lupe Ovalle and enjoyed many friends. Loucille was preceded in death by her parents Nolan Johns and Ruby and Arthur Dietrich; her sisters, Faye Eissey and Louise Ruke, and her husband of 52 years Paul Robert “Bob” Swaim, Sr She is survived by her children and their spouses: Phyllis and Doug Martin of Utica, Kentucky, Paula and Steve Scarboro of Asheboro, NC, Pat and Gary Baucom of Charlotte, NC, Robin and Bob Swaim of Cary, NC.

Loucille was also blessed with 12 grandchildren and their spouses: Matt and Nikki Martin, Ben and Katy Martin, Ellen and Derek Leak, Lauren and Chad Scarboro, Ryan Scarboro, Jennifer and Eric Baucom, Amie and Cory Baucom, Lauren and Jeremy Brown, Winn and Cole Baucom, Kayla Swaim, Preston Swaim and Chase Swaim; 18 great grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 1:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, 224 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with Rev. Lynda Ferguson officiating.

A reception will be held at Clapps Mountain Top Apartments following the memorial service. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 224 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC 27203. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is serving the family.
