Louis F. Gresl, 96, of Dover, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. Born in Greenville, Wisconsin on July 15, 1922, he was the son of Frank and Anna (nee Lemberger) Gresl. He spent his early life in Medford, Wisconsin where he was educated in area schools.

Louis served in the United States Army from 1940 to 1945. He was a decorated World War ll veteran. He served with the 5th Infantry Division – “Red Diamond”.

Louis was a resident of Dover for… Read More » 59 years. He owned and operated Gresl’s Sod Ranch for over 70 years. He was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dover.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Louis is survived by his children, Jeanne (Tim) Thom, Thomas (Cynthia) Gresl, Luanne (Richard) Bondar, Lori (Keith) Winkelman, Jan (Johanna) Gresl, Mark Gresl, Amy Lee and Maria (Edward) Fliess; twenty-seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren plus two on the way; and a sister, Laverne Miller. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife of 55 years, Carol, and two granddaughters, Kathryn and Cassondra.

The family would like to thank Allay Hospice and the staff at the Veteran’s Affairs Clinic in Union Grove for their assistance during this time. Mass of Christian Burial for Louis will take place Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kansasville. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery with full military honors.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, October 19, 2019 at Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home from 4pm to 6:30pm. A prayer service and rosary service will follow. A second visitation will be held on Saturday morning at the funeral home from 9:30am until 10:30am.
