Obituary for Lucille Buchanan Ellis Lucille Buchanan Ellis, age 93, of Cane Creek Road in Bakersville died Monday, August 13, 2018 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine. Born on June 27, 1925 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence S. and Ella Morgan Buchanan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands; Rev.

Bruce Buchanan who passed away in 1987 and Ernest T. Ellis who passed away in 2013. She was also preceded in death by two brothers; Jack and Maurice Buchanan; two half-brothers; George and Harry Ledford and one son-in-law; Derwin Woody. Left to cherish her memories are her four daughters; Betty Garland and husband, Bruce; Margaret Baker and husband, Arthur; and Kay Woody all of Bakersville; and Victoria Lewis and husband, Thom of North Wilkesboro; and one step-son; Charles Arnold Ellis and wife, Billie of Johnson City, TN.

She was lovingly called, ‘Mama Lou’ by her four grandchildren; Kimberly Neil of Kingsport, TN, Christopher Baker and wife, Kimberly of Holly Springs, NC, Stephanie Dellinger and husband, Dale of Bakersville and Wesley Woody and wife, Jyoti of Apex, NC. She was blessed with seven great grandchildren; Megan and Meredith Dellinger; Nathan, Abby, and Ben Baker; Jakob Neil and Elijah Woody. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Lucille Ellis on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the McKinney Cove Baptist Church with the Rev’s.

Todd Ayers and Vernon Buchanan officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the church. Interment will follow in the Wilson Young Cemetery.
