Mac Anderson, 75, of Coleman died Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the Woodlands Assisted Living Center in Eastland. There will be a visitation Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. David Wallace officiating, assisted by Mr. Bob Martin.
Burial will be in the Glen Cove Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. He was born Lester Mac Anderson on September 2, 1943 in Coleman to Lester Connelly Anderson and Marie McClellan Anderson.
Mac lived in southern Coleman County and attended school in Voss and graduated from Mozelle High School in 1961. He successfully completed courses from American Institute of Banking, Cisco Junior College and the University of Houston. On June 14, 1963 Mac married Joyce Wilson, and the celebrated 55 years of happiness.
Mac cherished his family and his happiest times were when his family was together. Mac worked as a bookkeeper for S.A. Boardman, the Conoco distributor in Coleman, bookkeeper for Berry Ford Sales and worked at 3M in Brownwood before moving to Austin to work as an assistant cashier for North Austin State Bank. While in Austin, he worked two jobs in order for Joyce to be a stay at home mom for their small children.
In 1975, Mac, Joyce and their children moved back to Coleman and owned the White Auto Store until 1985, when Mac joined business men and women to purchase Coleman Bank which is now Coleman County State Bank. Mac was a member of Elm Street Church of Christ. He served on many boards during his active years, including president of the Double C Riding Club, Director of Coleman Chamber of Commerce, Coleman Housing Authority, Child Welfare Board, FFA Honorary Chapter Farmer and was an Officer and Director of Coleman County State Bank.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Anderson of Coleman; daughter, Lisa Birdwell and children, David and Brynn of Monahans; son, Jodie and wife, Sandra Anderson of Johnson City and their children, Callie and Matt Ervin and Ace, Wade and June of Eastland, Tanner Anderson of Johnson City and Will Anderson of Waco; son Alan and wife Robin Anderson of San Leon and their children, MacKenzie of Tyler, Maycie of College Station, Beau of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Samantha and Tyler Edwards and children Tucker and Isla of St. Thomas, Erica Clark of Addison and Charlie and wife, Brooke of Bacliffe. Mac is also survived by an aunt, Wanell Thomas of Coleman; sister-in-law, Virginia Straughan of San Antonio; niece Marla Frye and family of Granbury; nephew John Straughan and family of San Antonio and other extended family members and many special friends. Mac was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Evelyn, nephew, Leslie and in-laws, G.W. and Marjorie Wilson.
