Mr. Malvin N. Dennis, 91, died Sunday, December 30, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton, with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park. The Family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, prior to the services at the funeral home.

Mr. Dennis was born in Johnsonville on August 19, 1927, a son of the late George W. and Jessie Powell Dennis. Malvin retired from W. Lee Flowers as Floor Supervisor. He was a member of Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he formerly served as Sunday School Superintendent, teacher of the Mae Wall Sunday School Class for over 35 years, Deacon for over 20 years and Choir member.

He was a wonderful husband who was blessed to share 50 years of marriage with his wife he loved dearly. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and has left a Christian heritage to each of them. He loved his church and his church family, but most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

When he accepted Christ as his Savior, he began to live daily with trust and faith in Christ and left an example for those coming after him to follow. He will be missed greatly by all those who knew and loved him. Surviving are his daughters; Trell (Jim) Maurer of Florence, SC and Pam (Tony) Mckenzie of Lake City; His sons Laran (Mary) Dennis of Turbeville and Barry (Tammie) Dennis of Darlington; His grandchildren Dana (Billy) Rollins of Salisbury, NC, Bryce McKenzie of Lake City, Andrea (Blake) Owens of Lake City, Keeli Dennis of Florence and Kim Floyd of Turbeville; great-grandchildren, Madison, Preston and Mason Rollins, Emily Ard and Kerrigan McKenzie, Dessa and Reed Owens; sisters, Beth Altman, Meredith Hooks and Mavis Moore, all of Johnsonville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Dennis was preceded in death by his wife Sadie Dennis and brothers, J.C. and Bubba Dennis and a sister, Linda Dennis. The family would like to thank the Amedysis Hospice Care team, with special thanks to Dr. Wade Lamb and nurses Sonya Timmons, Brooke Creel and Melissa Poston for their care and concern for him and the family during this time. Memorials can be made to the Mae Wall Sunday School class c/o Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church.
