Mamie N. Dean, 91, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 19, 2018. She was born in Dukedom, Tennessee on February 9, 1927 to the late George G. and Ima (Young) Taylor. The family moved to Ohio in 1942.

Mamie was a resident of Copley, Ohio since that time. Mamie married the love of her life, James W. Dean, Sr. in 1946. Together they built two homes in Copley and raised their son, Jimmy.

Mamie was baptized in the name of Jesus in May of 1949 by Pastor R.E. Carter. She received the baptism of the Holy Spirit in February of 1950. Pastor Carter was her Pastor until he died in 1964.

Pastor Frank B. Poling was her Pastor for 25 years until he retired. It was under Pastor Poling that James Sr. was baptized and received the Holy Spirit. Together they worked in the kingdom and travelled the world for Missions in Thailand, Asia and various locations in Africa.

In June 1991, Mamie and James became members of Life Tabernacle, when Edward G. Nichols became their Pastor. James died in 1993. Mamie was an active and faithful member of Life, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Grief Recovery Specialist, Home Bible Study Teacher, and was active in the Senior Group.

Because of her experience and wisdom, Mamie was sought out by young and old for her advice and counsel. Mamie is also preceded in death by her son, James Dean Jr., a sister, Betty Harold, and brothers, Elwyn and George W. Taylor. Mamie is survived by nieces, nephews and a host of precious friends.

Mamie’s visitation will be held Monday, July 23rd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Life Tabernacle, 9908 Krabill Road, Rittman, Ohio 44270. Her funeral service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Edward Nichols officiating. She will be laid to rest with her husband and son at Copley Cemetery.
