Obituary for Margaret “Midge” Smith On April 22, Margaret Jamison (Midge) Smith died peacefully in her home, surrounded by loved ones. She was 77. Midge grew up a farmer, tending to her family’s farm and helping to run their farm stand in Bucks County PA.

It was at the farmstand, that she met the love of her life, George R Smith (Smitty). Midge and Smitty had three children Pierce Ann, Clifford, and Jamison (JJ). Together they founded and ran a successful craft store for 40 years (Hentown Country Store).

They shared in each other’s passions like horseback riding and fox hunting, reenactments of the Revolutionary War, folk art, and restoring a 1720 farm house that they lived in. When they retired, they longed to live in a farm community again. As Bucks County became more populated, they moved to Lebanon County, drawn by the beautiful Mennonite farms in the area.

Midge and Smitty lived out their days in Lebanon County surrounded by a wonderful community full of loving neighbors. During her illness, she had the support of those neighbors, and the wonderful women from Wellspan Hospice, till the end. She is survived by her son Jamison and his wife Karen, several nieces and a nephew, Sherri, Kim, Donna, Kelly, Brad, and the many friends who’s lives she has touched Midge was preceded in death by her son Clifford, daughter Pierce, and loving husband George.

At Midge’s request, services will be private. She hopes that her friends will understand and rejoice in the life she lived. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Margaret “Midge” Smith please visit our Sympathy Store.
