Margaret O. Baumann of Ashippun passed away Monday, June 25, 2018 at Angels Grace Hospice at the age of 97 years. She was born May 22, 1921 in Ashippun, the daughter of Charlie and Thekle (nee Schoenike) Peterson. Margaret was born on the family farm that she spent her life on.
Her ancestors purchased the family homestead in 1862. She graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1939 and married Albert Baumann in 1941 at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Neosho.
In their early years, they were cheesemakers in a number of different area cheese factories. Eventually they moved onto the family farm where they continued the family farming life style. She was a very strong individual and when the children were young, was active in 4-H.
Margaret could “make a dead stick grow”. She loved to grow flowers, house plants, and loved to watch the birds at the feeders, and the chipmunks cleaning up the fallen seeds. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren, and her family was very important to her.
Margaret is survived by her loving children, Donald (Judy) Baumann of Hustisford, David Baumann of Hustisford, Nancy (Donald) Roecker of Hartford, Randy (Rosie) Baumann of Slinger, and Heidi Baumann of Oconomowoc. Also surviving are her 9 precious grandchildren, and 14 dearly loved great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by four sisters.
She is survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Visitation is Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, N1245 St. John’s Way, Ashippun.
