Maria D. Granados, 61, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on the morning of Wednesday, February 20, 2019. Maria was born on April 4, 1957 in Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Noé Vallejo Benavides and Adelina Salas Peña (Vallejo). Maria spent the first part of her life in Mexico, moving to Texas in 1986.

She had recently relocated to South Bend in January. She was employed for many years as a healthcare provider through Home Health Care. Maria was a loving, compassionate person who enjoyed sewing and spending time with family.

She loved to help others and was described by her family as a super-strong “man of steel” woman. She was a caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Maria will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Maria is survived by her loving children, Claudia (Luis Martin) Pulido of Brownsville, TX, Veronica (David Salazar) Granados of South Bend, Gerald Granados of Las Vegas, NV and Jesus A. Vallejo of Mexico. Maria is also survived by nine grandchildren: Luis M. (Mia), Gerardo, Brandon, Bryan E., David (Adilene), Steven (Nadia), Christopher, Leonardo and Gisella K.; great-granddaughter Elyana; brothers Juan M. (Myra) Vallejo, Miguel A. Vallejo and Noé Vallejo, all of Mexico; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Maria was preceded in death by her father.

Friends may call on the family of Maria Granados for visitation at Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN 46628 on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. ending with prayers at 2:00 p.m. Online expressions of sympathy may be left at www. palmerfuneralhomes.com.
