Obituary for Maria Marquez De Cruz Maria Marquez De Cruz, 79, died Sunday December 9, 2018 in Garden City, Kansas. She was born January 6, 1939 the daughter of Santiago and Virginia (Aguilar) Marquez at Ejido La Vega, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Maria was born and raised in Mexico.

On November 20, 1957 she married Bernardino Cruz. They moved to Denver in the 1970’s to raise their family. She enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos play, and her family’s reactions to their wins and losses.

She was a good cook and talented seamstress. Her masterpieces included Quincenera and wedding dresses. Even with her advanced age, she still managed to sew delicate lace pieces for her great granddaughter Maya.

She is survived by her children-Maricela Finney, Beatriz Cruz, Martin S. Cruz, Mercedes Felix, Veronica Camarena, & Francisco J. Cruz; siblings-Marcelino Marquez, Desideria Marquez, Margarita Marquez, Isidro Marquez, Virgilio Marquez, & Felipe Marquez; 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children-Bernardino Cruz & Orlando Cruz; her parents-Santiago and Virginia Marquez & one great grand daughter-Aaliyah Deanette McDuffie. Visitation will be 9:00am – 6:00 pm with a Vigil Service from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday December 12, 2018 at Primera Iglesia del Nazareno, 3150 Schulman Ave, Garden City, Kansas.

A Funeral Service will be held 10:30 am Thursday December 13, 2018 also at Primera Iglesia del Nazareno with Pastor Felix Garcia officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Condolences may be posted at www.
