Obituary for Vivian Lee Braun Print Vivian Lee Braun, 88, died on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in Upland, California. She was born on July 8, 1930 in Bartlett, Texas to Carrol Vivian Rhodes and Pauline Brown. She attended schools in Austin, TX.

She married Paul Scheumack, Sr. in 1946. They later divorced, and he passed away in 1980. On October 19, 1962, she married Herbert James Braun.

He preceded her in death on January 17, 2006 after 44 years of marriage. They farmed in Holcomb many years before retiring and moving to Garden City in 1978. Vivian later moved to California in 2011 to be closer to her two children and grandchildren.

Vivian was a homemaker and loved doing ceramics, attending the grandkid’s sporting events, spending time with her family, bowling, fishing, playing bingo and dominoes, and baking sugar cookies and German dishes. She is survived by her children, Howard (Sharon) Braun of Garden City, Dianne (Charles) Higdon of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Richard (Connie) Braun of Deerfield, and Paul Jr. (Faith) Scheumack of Alta Loma, CA; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters Roberta Crum of Buhler, KS and Cathy Bailey of Glen Heights, TX; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers Paul Rhodes and Jimmy Rhodes; two sisters Dorothy Leiker and Ann Ragland; great grandson Mitchell Braun; and nephew Norman Crum.

A rosary service will be held Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019, also at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Burial will take place in Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

There will be no visitation, as cremation has already taken place. An additional Memorial Service was held last Sunday at Crosslight Ministries in California. Memorials are suggested to St. Dominic Catholic Church, in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. Seventh St., Garden City, KS 67846.
