Obituary of Marie Eckler Mrs. Marie A. Eckler, 90, formerly of Clark Avenue, Fort Plain, NY passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019 following a brief illness. A lifelong area resident, Marie was born on April 27, 1928 on the family farm in Freysbush, the daughter of the late William and Leola Ward Borchert. She was a 1945 graduate of Fort Plain High School.

On October 12, 1946 she was united in marriage to Victor E. Eckler at the Methodist parsonage in Middleburgh, NY. That union lasted nearly 70 years until his passing on November 28, 2015. She was predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings, Claude Borchert, Ward Borchert, Charlotte Loadwick, Linnie Moyer and Loella Moyer.

Marie enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her family. She was a member of the Freysbush United Methodist Church. Survivors include four children, John Eckler and his wife Sandra of Fort Plain, Kathleen Pellegrini of Fort Plain, Amy Eckler of Canajoharie and David Eckler and his wife Tialisa of Canajoharie; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Kneeskern of Nelliston; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will commence on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 10 o’clock at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with the Rev. Cynthia Leonard presiding. Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening from 5 until 7p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in the spring, where Marie will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Fort Plain Cemetery.
