Obituary for Marilyn S. Kane New Hartford – Marilyn Joan Schram Kane, 85, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Presbyterian Home. Marilyn was born on October 1, 1932 in Utica, the daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Guzski) Schram. She was a graduate of UFA and Faxton Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned her credential as a registered nurse.

On April 7, 1956, Marilyn married Edward J. Kane in Holy Trinity Church, a union of 30 years prior to his death on April 19, 1986. Marilyn was employed with St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing as the school’s nurse, retiring in 1986, and also served in Utica schools. She was a docent for many years at Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute, and a volunteer at the Stanley Performing Arts Center, and Friends of the New Hartford Public Library.

She loved the ocean and gardening, and was a certified Master Gardener. Marilyn was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, and sister. Surviving are two daughters, Susan and Stephen Kane Nelson, Yorkville, Sharon Kane Zohne and Matt Sullivan, New Hartford; sons, Joseph and Karyl Kane, Binghamton, Kevin and Kelly Kane, Syracuse, Robert and Lorraine Kane, New Hartford, David and Adriana Kane, New Hartford; sister Elaine and Robert Hafen of Arizona, and grandchildren Robert and Meghan Kane, Sean and Shea Nelson, Valerie and Ethan Kane, and Connor Zohne.

She was predeceased by sister Patricia Cross and brother Michael Schram, both of Arizona. Special thanks to friends Sarah and Molly Killian, Brenda Cook and the ladies at Complete Companion Care, and all of her friends at Preswick Glen. The family will receive friends at McGrath, Myslinski, Karboski & Nunn Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd.

, Utica on Saturday, April 28 from 9 to 11 a.m.. A funeral service will commence following visitation at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro at the convenience of the family.
