Marion “Urshel” Boyd, age 82, of Battle Creek, passed away on July 22, 2018. He was born on December 19, 1935 in Graysville, Tennessee, the son of Virgil and Mattie (Levi) Boyd. He moved from Tennessee to Battle Creek in 1951.

Urshel was employed at Michigan Carton Company as a printing pressman, from which he retired after 42 years. After retirement, he worked on the grounds at Cedar Creek Golf Course. Urshel was an avid golfer, enjoyed motorcycle riding, watching Nascar, bowling and especially spending time with his family.

Urshel was united in Marriage on June 5, 1954 to his wife, Wilma, she preceded him in death in 2006. Also preceded him in death are his parents, and sister; Evelyn Caraway. Surviving are his daughters; Pam Collier of Portage, MI.

, Brenda Boyd of Springfield, son; Bill Boyd of Battle Creek, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., on Friday, July 27, 2018 at the funeral home, Pastor James Codde officiating.

Interment will follow at the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Condolences may be left for the family at www.
