Obituary for Martha B. Hicks Martha Hicks, age 83, of Johnson City, TN, passed away at her residence on Thursday, January 10, 2019 following an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Macie Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Burl J. Hicks, and her grandson, Joshua Adams.

Martha Hicks was known by friends and family as someone who was always funny and witty in any situation. Her hobbies included working with her flowers and reading. Martha loved spending time with her grandchildren, camping, going to the beach, eating chocolate, and shopping.

She was a member of Boones Creek Christian Church and worked as a secretary for the State of TN. Martha is survived by her son, Jeff Hicks of Johnson City; her daughter, Cindy Adams of Kingsport; two grandchildren, Derek Adams and Monica Adams, of Kingsport; four great grandchildren, Audrey Adams, Malaya Adams, Mia Adams and, Emmalynn Adams, all of Kingsport; two special friends and caregivers, Judy Cantwell, of Fall Branch, and Cindy Northern, of Bristol. A service to celebrate the life of Martha Hicks will be conducted at 5:00 PM on Sunday January 13, 2019 in the Sunrise Chapel at Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City with Chaplain Steven Spell officiating.

Music will be provided by Steven Spell. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Sunday. The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Amedysis Hospice of Elizabethton for their care and support of Martha Hicks.
