Martha Renia Wix Phillips, 77, of Florence, passed away on December 31, 2018 at North Alabama Medical Center. She was a member of Underwood Baptist Church, the Hope Sunday School Class and Woodmen of the World. Martha was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.

She followed her husband all over the world during his military career and afterwards as a missionary to the military. She had a heart for others and wanted to care for everyone she met. She was blessed with the gifts of hospitality, compassion, forgiveness, and kindness.

For the last several years of her life her great joy and pleasure was greeting the school bus to welcome grandchildren with a snack and drink. She loved and was loved by all. Heaven is a better place for having her.

Visitation will be at Underwood Baptist Church from 12 Noon -1 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019. The funeral will begin at 1 p.m. at Underwood Baptist Church with Brother Donnie McDaniel and Brother Doug Farris officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, and recently by her grandson, Braden Turner. Survivors include her husband, Rev. Jerry Phillips; son, Ben Phillips; daughters, Sherrie Johnson (Allen), Heather Turner McNeill (Joshua) and Sonya Baker (John); grandchildren, Miranda Johnson, Megan Johnson, Prestin Turner, Madalynn Turner, Wyatt McNeill, Heath McCullough and Chance McCullough.

Serving as pallbearers will be Allen Johnson, Josh McNeill, Prestin Turner, Randy Darby, Roger Jackson and Rex Johnson.
