Obituary for Martin O’Reilly Martin O’Reilly, 90, passed away on June 17, 2018. Born July 18, 1927 in Brooklyn, he then moved to Staten Island in the 1970s. He was the beloved husband to his wife Marilyn Dowling.

They were married for 53 years. Marilyn passed just 18 days before Martin. Martin was a graduate of Saint Gregory’s Grammar School and Saint Augustine High School.

He went on to attend Brooklyn College and continued his education at St Francis’s College where he graduated with his Masters Degree. While in attendance, he was the President of Omega Delta Phi. He served in the Pacific for the Navy during World War II.

After the war, Martin joined the 69th National Guard Regimen. Martin was very active in his community, and many organizations. He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans for 64 years, during his membership, he served as a National Commander.

For 59 years, he was a member of the American Legion; Veteran of Foreign Wars for 60 years; the Ancient Order of Hibernians for over 20 years and AMVETS Post 103. Martin is survived by his nephews Michael and Paul Kuohn, niece Regina Kuohn, two great nephews and two great nieces. A Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday at St. Patrick�s Church located at 53 St. Patrick’s Place Staten Island, New York 10306.

Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
