Obituary of Martin Matchik Conneaut- Martin M. Matchik, 72, died peacefully on Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Erie VA Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born on August 22, 1945 in Bedford, Ohio the son of the late Michael Matchik and Helene R. (Hay) Zumock. Marty served honorably in the United States Coast Guard.

He was a member of the American Legion Cowle Post #151. He has resided in Conneaut the past 40 years and previously lived in the Bedford and Cleveland area. Martin was proud to be a former Police Officer with Oakwood Village and former dispatcher in Bedford Heights during the 1960’s and 1970’s.

He also enjoyed being a locksmith and owned and operated M and M Lock. Most recently he retired from working with Larry DeGeorge at Security Technologies in Ashtabula. Marty was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed gardening and always had a large garden at his home.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sharon (Udell) Matchik; children, Mark Matchik, Vicki (Tim) Fetterman and Dawn (Tom) Polley; brother, Dan (Doria) Matchik; sister, Sharon Jarosz; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Martin was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Nancie Hornyak. In keeping with his wishes, no services will be observed.
