Marvin Lynwood Sawyers, 70, of Penhook, VA passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at his home. He was born August 31, 1948 to the late Garnett Sawyers and Edith Clark Sawyers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Anne Barker Sawyers; and brother, Doug Sawyers.

Mr. Sawyers was a member of Rich Acres Christian Church and was currently employed by Franklin County School System. He is survived by his wife, Martha Morris Sawyers of the home;… Read More » daughters, Michelle Heath (Ricky) of Martinsville, VA and Marcia Payne (Craig) of Dry Fork, VA; step-daughter, JoAnna Coleman (John) of Roanoke, VA; sister, Becky Agnew (James) of Bassett, VA; and brother, Charles Sawyers of Spencer, VA. Also surviving are grandchildren, Brittany Bryan (Justin), Kelli Walker (T.J.), Gavin Payne, Brandon Miller (Tabatha), Brian Heath, Colby Payne, Allison Coleman, and Katie Coleman; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at McCabe Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Lewis Harris officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12 noon and other times at the home of his daughter, Michelle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA of Martinsville-Henry County, 132 Joseph Martin Hwy, Martinsville, VA 24112. Norris Funeral Services, Inc. and Crematory of Martinsville, VA is serving the Sawyers family.
