Obituary for Mary Talerico Mary Antionette Talerico, 88, of Shinnston, WV, died Friday afternoon, June 1, 2018, at Bridgeport Health Care Center. Born on February 4, 1930, in Laural Lee, WV, to Domenico and Rosa Oliverio Talerico, she was a first generation Italian-American and the last surviving member of her immediate family. She graduated from Lumberport High School in 1948 and began working in the family store, Laural Lee Grocery.

She then worked for Garden Fresh Markets from 1955 until 1987. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony Talerico and his wife Mary, and her sister Angeline Belcastro and her husband Tony. Mary, beloved aunt, is survived by her special niece, Joyce Westfall and her husband Richard, and their children: Julie Westfall and fiancé Phillip Stark and their child Collin, David Westfall, and Maria Westfall and partner Connie Fallon; a special great-nephew, Jason Belcastro and his wife Jaime and their children: Anthony, Kyler and Tyus; niece Rosemary Talerico-Maximin and her husband Michael and their children: Elizabeth Maximin and Nasstassja Talerico-Joseph and her husband Sheldon; niece Cathy Raiford and her husband Tony and their children: Maggie Raiford and Luke Raiford and his wife Maricella; nephew, Joseph Belcastro and wife Kim and their daughter Nikie Kisamore and her husband Andrew and their children Kadee and Ethan.

Mary was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church of Shinnston and its Altar Society, as well as the Shinnston Senior Citizens where she loved playing bingo and having lunch with friends. Mary, our beloved aunt, had a great sense of humor and was always a lot of fun She loved playing cards with her family and cutting her coupons, but most of all she loved us. We wish to extend a special thank you to her caregivers Dot, Sissy, and Maria for their steadfast devotion.

Contributions can be made in Mary’s name to St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Shinnston, WV, 26431. Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2018; Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Shinnston, at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018, with Father Pat Wash as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
