Mary Agnes Venner passed away early Saturday morning in a local hospital. She was born in Butte, Monday, August 16, 1926 to Herbert and Minnie (Buzza) Gundry. The family lived in Buxton until she was ten years old and then moved to Whitehall.

She graduated from Whitehall High School in 1945 and moved to Helena where she worked for Western Union and Western Life Insurance Company. Mary married Lawrence Wallace in 1946 and he passed away in 1961. She returned to Butte and worked at the Ben Franklin Store for seventeen years.

She married Kenneth Venner in 1983 and he died in 2009. Mary and Ken loved to travel, visited 37 country and drove through all 50 states. She retired from Ben Franklin so she and Ken could spend more time traveling.

Mary was a member of the Christian Women Fellowship, Cornish Cousins, Butte Square Dance Club, the Red Hat Society, ARCO Retiree’s Ladies and a singing group. She loved camping, fishing and traveling. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, games with family and friends and was great for keeping in touch with people from all over.

Mary is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Peter Cassidy, Jean and Dee Sullivan and Terry Randall, son, Gary Wallace, grandchildren: Steve Johnson, Mark Johnson, Michael Hastings, Steve Randall, Travis Wallace, Adam Wallace, Jennifer Sullivan, Lisa Sullivan, Amy Lowney and Shauna Yelverton. Also surviving are numerous great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Butte Rescue Mission or Butte Food Bank.
