Mary Ann Elsass , October 21, 1945 — October 25, 2018

Mary Ann Elsass, 73, of Wapakoneta, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at 5:10 p.m., Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Otterbein Cridersville. Mary Ann was born on October 21, 1945 in Lima, OH to Vernon “Bill” L. & Margaret C. (Loegel) Elsass who preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister, Betty E. Elsass of St. Marys; a brother, Larry J. Elsass of Cridersville; a niece and 3 nephews, Gwen Wilges, Larry J. Elsass Jr., Russell W. Myers, Jeremy D. Myers; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann was a 1963 graduate of Wapakoneta Senior High School. She then obtained an associate’s degree in accounting from Northwestern Business College in 1965. She was a secretary at West Ohio Gas Company for 30 years.

She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta. She enjoyed going to the casinos, watching horse and dog races and playing cards. She also enjoyed baseball especially the Cleveland Indians and the Cincinnati Reds.

Most of all she enjoyed traveling on bus trips, cruises and trains. She will be remembered as a kind and thoughtful lady with a quick wit. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Cheryl.

The family would like to thank the nurses on the 5K at St. Rita’s (especially Margie) plus the nurses and staff at Otterbein both St. Marys and Wapakoneta who took good care of Mary Ann. We thank also like to thank Tina with the St. Rita’s Hospice for her love and caring which helped us through a very difficult time. In addition, special thanks to Stacie with Dr. Rhodes office who always appeared when we needed her the most.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta with Rev. Doug Pretorius officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery, Moulton.

Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be directed to the donor’s choice. Condolences may be expressed at www.
